Abankro (Ash), July 12, GNA - The Canadian Teachers Federation (CTF) has donated assorted educational materials worth GH¢7,000 to some selected deprived basic schools in the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
The items were donated on behalf of CTF by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), which had been in partnership with CTF to build capacities of Ghanaian teachers to improve educational delivery in the country.
The items included exercise books, pencils, erasers, flip chart pads, scrabble, kids’ story books and toys.
Mr Thomas Musah, Head of Membership Education Department of GNAT, who made the presentation at Abankro, in the Ejisu Municipality, said the aim of the partnership between GNAT and CTF was to ensure that Ghanaian school pupils received quality education through the improvement of standard practice of the teaching profession in the two countries.
He said the partnership which had been in existence for the past 56 years provided avenue for the training of teachers in the areas of mathematics, Information and Communication Technology as well as Science, to improve teaching skills in basic schools.
Mr Lawrence Hunter, Team Leader of the CTF said the Federation was determined to team up with GNAT to promote literacy, numeracy and early childhood education in the country.
He entreated Ghanaian parents to show much interest in their children education since that was the only way Ghana could develop in all aspects of life.
Mr Asare Bediako, Ejisu Circuit Supervisor, who represented the Municipal Director of Education, commended the two unions and pledged that the materials would be used for its intended purpose.
