Tamale, May 11, GNA – Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I, the President of the Northern Region House of Chiefs on Thursday called on the Dagbon Traditional Council to initiate the process to perform the funeral rites of the late Chiefs of Dagbon peacefully.
He said the Northern Region House of Chiefs had been incomplete due to the delay in performing the funerals of the two chiefs in Yendi.
The Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I, whose speech was read on his behalf during the Northern Region House of Chiefs general meeting in Tamale stressed the importance for the performance of the funeral.
“As President of this house, I wish to announce my unhappiness, sleepless nights, night mares, and unbearable ancestral communication over a decade ago what revolted in Dagbon”, He said.
He said the Northern Region House of Chiefs needed to have a complete house to chart the course of development of the region.
Yagbonwura Tuntumba Bore Essa I, also advised the government to put more efforts in agricultural industrial sector to reduce the unemployment and also to provide food security in the country.
He added that the house was ready to support the government’s agenda to make the Northern sector the food hub in the country and to transcend to the boundaries of the country as well.
Mr Paul Essien, the Deputy Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, called on the Chiefs and traditional leaders to support government and security agencies to put a stop to the abuse of the Tramadol drug.
He urged the Chiefs to support Government’s development efforts to improve the socio-economic well-being of the people to achieve the agenda setting promises to the country.
