Tarkwa (W/R), April 20, GNA - Mr Gilbert Kennedy Asmah, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Tarkwa Nsueam has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to disregard the wrongful impression created about him.
Mr Asmah who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency reacting to a press conference organised by the Constituency Executive Committee of the NPP to demand for his dismissal from office, Mr Asmah said issues raised by the group were false and should be disregarded.
He also denied the constituency executive committee's claims, and said, he had not set up any team to terrorise the Member of Parliament for the area.
On April 17, 2018, a group organised a press briefing in Tarkwa and raised concerns which included the MCE's disregard for the current Member of Parliament, Mr. George Meriku Duker and party leaders, repackaging and leaking information to destroy their stakeholders, destroying the NPP's fortunes in the 2020 general election and refusing to consult the party leadership.
The MCE emphasised that it was the President who appointed him and if he decides to revoke his appointment he would accept it.
"I don't understand why they will hold such a meeting without even consulting me to fine out the truth" He indicated.
Mr Asmah however refused to divulge any other details concerning the matter.
He assured the party supporters that as members of one party, they should unite and work harder to assist in the total development of the municipality.
Mr Asmah called on the constituency executive committee to concentrate on achieving the government's vision in all sectors of the economy instead of engaging in unproven condemnation of opposing personalities and ideas.
