Agogo, (Ash), April 05, GNA – Mr Francis Oti Boateng, District Chief Executive for Asante Akim North has urged the youth to equip themselves with the requisite knowledge and skills to serve as workforce for the one district one factory programme.
He said so far proposals of three companies had been submitted to 1D1F secretariat for approval to begin operations in the district.
They are Food Hub Limited, which has proposed to establish cassava starch factory, Pepsas Turbo Limited, to produce alcoholic beverages and Natpalet limited, which has proposed to establish a shipping company.
Mr Boateng made the call at the first speech and prize-giving day of the Agogo Presbyterian College of Education primary “B” school, at Agogo.
It was on the theme “enhancing quality education through the teaching of ICT” an occasion that was also used to inaugurate a 56 capacity ICT laboratory centre for the school.
Mr Boateng said education and skills acquisition, especially in the ICT, vocational and technical training, was very important to make the youth employable and appealed to parents to take keen interest in the education of their children to ensure that they grew up well equipped to serve society.
Mr Amos Sarkodie, Headmaster, said the school which was established in 2011 with 351 pupils, currently had 587 pupils and was adjudged the best performing school in the district and among the best 200 schools in the Ashanti region.
Mr Sarkodie appealed for support to complete a library and science laboratory projects in the school.
