Accra, Feb. 26, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court on Monday sentenced Quarshie Bruno, a welder to ten years imprisonment for robbery.
The court after trial found Bruno guilty of the charges and sentenced him accordingly.
The court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh in convicting Bruno considered his plea for mitigation and the duration spent in Police custody.
The facts as presented to the court earlier by Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo said that the complainant in the case was a student.
He said on October 9, 2017 at about 2230 hours the complainant was on her way to the house from school, and met the convict who engaged her in a conversation. In the process, the convict requested for the complainant’s mobile phone number, which she refused to disclose but Bruno insisted he wanted the number.
He said the convict managed to lure the complainant to an isolated place, gripped the complainants’ right hand, twisted her wrist, and collected her mobile phone valued at GH¢ 860.00 and bolted.
The Prosecution said all this while, the complainant was shouting for help, which attracted a taxi driver, a witness in the case, who managed to arrest the convict.
A search conducted on him, revealed the complainant’s mobile phone and the convict was handed over to the Police together with the exhibit.
