Tarkwa (W/R), February 19, GNA – A 51 year old farmer has been remanded by a Tarkwa Circuit court for allegedly defiling a 10 year-old girl at Sikafoamatem, a suburb of Asankragwa into prison custody.
The accused Kwame Ntiako, was arrested on January 3, 2018, after the incident and has since been in police custody.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement and would re-appear before the court on March 12.
Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Essel-Dadzie, told the court that, the complainant is related to the victim and both resides at Sikafoamatem and while the accused live at Ohiamatuo-Tanaa.
She said on December 17, at about 12:30 pm, accused attended a friend's mother’s funeral at Asankragwa and stayed with the friend at Sikafoamatem near the complainant's house.
ASP Essel-Dadzie said whilst the victim was passing by, Ntiako gave her money to buy him a sachet of water.
The prosecution said when the victim returned with the water, accused lured her into the room of his friend who was absent, increased the volume of a radio set in the room and had sexual intercourse with her on his friend’s bed.
She said whilst Ntiako was sexual assaulting the victim, she screamed repeatedly for help and defecated on the bed as she could not endure the pain.
ASP Essel-Dadzie said after the act the victim went home and narrated her ordeal to her father who reported to the police.
She said the accused was later arrested by the Asankragwa police and the victim identified him to the police as the one who defiled her.
