Accra, Dec. 13, GNA - The Pro Fight Factory Gym Kickboxing team, departed for Morocco on Wednesday morning, to represent Ghana at the 2017 African Kickboxing Championship in Morocco.
Six fighters and two coaches made the trip to Morocco.
They were; Isaac Commey – 65.5kg, Francis Dodoo – 68.5kg, Daniel Boateng – 55.5kg, Euro Jonathan – 80.5kg, Ebenezer Adjei – 75.5kg and Stephen Bruce – 60.5kg.
Michael Amanor and Isaac Doku, were the two coaches, with Nii Yemo Yemoson as the team manager.
Nii Adotey Dzata I, President of the Ghana Kick Boxing Association (GKBA), who was at the Kotoka International Airport, to see off the national select-side, was hopeful that they would bring home medals.
He noted that they had prepared well and are motivated to win laurels for themselves and the nation.
“I trust my boys, because they have been training for a long time. We have also watched series of international competitions and we are abreast with modern trends in the sport,” he stated.
He thanked world champion, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai who won the 2016 SWAG Best Kick Boxer of the Year award for his contribution towards the trip of the team.
According to him, Nyanyo Nmai, bought air tickets to Morocco for the boxers adding that, he will also be there to present equipment to the boxers ahead of the competition.
Captain of the team, Daniel Boateng said in an interview that, they would never let the nation down and assured all that, they would bring home medals.
The six athletes representing the nation are very popular and experienced fighters who have won many international and local bouts.
