Kumasi, Dec 04, GNA – The old students association of the Saint Hubert Seminary Senior High School (SAHUPSA) has announced its decision to construct a modern administration block for its alma mater at a cost of GH?1.8 million.
The one storey building would come with 26 offices, board and conference rooms.
Mr. Anthony Agyapong, Chairman of the Project Implementation Committee, said the architectural design was ready and that formal construction work would start next year.
Addressing a meeting of the association held in Kumasi to unveil the project, he said it would be funded through members’ contributions and fund-raising activities.
Professor Seth Opuni-Asiamah, former Ashanti Regional Chairman of Peace Council, commended the old boys for the initiative.
He said it was a recognition of the tremendous benefits brought to them by the school.
He reminded past students of the need to give back to their alma mater – find space to support efforts at creating the right conditions for effective academic work.
He encouraged school authorities to do more to aid young people to uphold the values’ of patriotism and voluntarism.
Mr. Simon Baidoo, President of SAHUPSA said the project was their contribution towards improving the school’s infrastructure.
He asked its members to pay their contributions promptly to ensure the early completion of the project.
The Reverend Father Stephen Owusu Sekyere, Rector of the School, said they were grateful to the association for project.
He spoke the school’s urgent need for additional dining and assembly halls and asked that work was quickened on an ongoing dormitory Ablock to ease the student accommodation pressure.
