Dormaa Ahenkro (B/A), June 20, GNA – An 11-member investigative committee to probe allocation of market stores in the Dormaa Municipality of Brong-Ahafo Region has been inaugurated.
The independent committee has been given a three -week ultimatum to complete its work and make final recommendations to the Assembly.
There is a looming tension among traders and some residents in the Municipality, over what they described as wrongful allocation of stores constructed by the previous Assembly at the Dormaa market.
Mr Drissa Ouattara, the Municipal Chief Executive said he had received a number of complaints from buyers hence the need for the establishment of the committee.
He said some of the petitioners had sent the matter to court adding: "Due to the legal dimension in which the matter has taken we thought it wise to bring a team together to investigate for the right thing to be done to avert any confrontations."
Mr Ouattara noted that the unresolved grievances among the traders undermined the security of the area and there was the need for immediate measures to find lasting solution to the problem.
He tasked the committee to be objective and fair in the discharge of its mandate.
Mr Henry Oppong, a member of the Committee thanked the assembly for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their commitment to justify it.
