Accra, May 3, GNA – Mr Evans Yeboah, President of the Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG), has said has the Badminton World Federation (BWF), has charged participating countries to introduce and encourage the Para-Badminton for the physically challenged before the 2020 Paralympic Games.
According to him, the BWF are concerned about promoting Para- Badminton to give the disabled and visually impaired the opportunity to participate in the badminton tournament in Tokyo.
“BWF is interested in us to be able to inculcate this particular lifestyle as a modern trend in Badminton”.
“There are six levels of classifications in the Para-badminton and currently we have made provision to start with the sixth classification called the dwarfs/short majors. This will be developed to bring remuneration for everybody,” he said.
Addressing the media over the weekend, Mr Yeboah said he was confident in the plans that are being considered to make the Para-badminton a success.
“We will re-tool all our membership and governance structure to fit a modern lifestyle sport that will move on.
“We believe that this will encourage togetherness, willingness and contribution from all members.
“We are the second most viewed sport in the world currently but we’ve never enhance on that competition.
