Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare's appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has officially been announced.
The former Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi takes over from Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira who has retired.
A statement issued and signed by Rebecca Ackwonu, a Public Relations Officer at the GHS said Dr Nsiah-Asare's appointment by President Akufo-Addo took effect from March 1, 2017.
Dr. Nsiah-Asare, prior to his current appointment, has worked in the health sector spanning over 36 years in senior management position and as a Surgical Specialist at the St Patrick Hospital in Offinso-Ashanti, Tamale Teaching Hospital and a Consultant General Surgeon at KATH.
Between 1997 and 2001, Dr Nsiah-Asare served as a part-time lecturer in Clinical Anatomy at the University of Development Studies (UDS) and School of Medical Sciences, Tamale.
