Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline campaign has returned with a trip to the East Legon Tunnel where 25 drivers were arrested.
The arrests were made in a two-hour operation where a number of errant drivers were stopped by the police.
Some of the arrested drivers made calls hoping to be let off the hook whilst others tried to resist arrest only to later plead for mercy.
ASP Simon Tenku told Citi News that the offenses were mainly driving at the wrong side of the road and ignoring road markings.
“We want the general public to know that we are not going to stop these exercises. Let us all adhere to basic traffic laws and we’ll have safety on our roads.”
The War Against Indiscipline was started by Citi TV in May 2019 and in June the station roped in police to name, shame and punish persons who break road traffic regulations.
Citi TV‘s collaboration with the Ghana Police Service has accumulated GH¢258,000 in fines for the state at the last count.
The amount was realized from 499 drivers who were arrested on the Spintex, Legon by-pass, Dawhenya, Pokuase-Amasaman, Kasoa-Weija, Adenta-Dodowa roads, among others
