The National Identification Authority (NIA) has postponed the extension of the Ghana card registration exercise in the Volta Region.
The exercise which was to commence on Wednesday was to register people in densely populated areas in the Volta Region who were not captured during the registration process.
Speaking to Citi News, Corporate Communications Director at the NIA, Francis Pamdetti said, a new date for the registration will be announced.
“We issued a press statement yesterday indicating that we have postponed the mob up registration exercise in the Volta Region scheduled for today. We observed a few internal issues which we felt will tamper the exercise if we went ahead to start registration today. In the shortest possible time we will let the public know about it.”
In July, the NIA complained about network challenges in the registration process.
Applicants had queued at some 350 centres designated for the exercise as early as 7:00 am but the Authority was unable to upload data of the applicants onto the authorities severs.
