The Paramount Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwasi Agyemang has been hospitalized at the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital in Sekondi after he was attacked by masked assailants.
The attack left with him with knife wounds.
Citi News gathered that the assailants broke into his palace after destroying his main gate with a stick of dynamite and rounded up some elders including Nana Agyemang.
They were then taken to an unknown place where they were beaten and left with several wounds.
The Western Regional Police Command PRO, DSP Olivia Adiku who confirmed this to Citi News, said they are currently searching for the Upper Dixcove Paramount Chief, Obrempong Hima-Dekyi.
Obrempong Hima-Dekyi is suspected to have brought the four masked men for the attack.
“The issue has been reported to us and we are currently on a manhunt for the Upper Dixcove Paramount Chief.”
“He is the one we are told brought the four men to attack the palace. Calm has returned to the place and we are vigorously investigating the case,” she said.
The dispute is believed to be a disagreement between the Lower Dixcove and Upper Dixcove Paramount Chiefs over the boundary between the two paramountcies, all in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region.
Nana Akwasi Agyemang is a former Acting Western Regional House of Chiefs President.
