Three persons were rescued by police in Kibi after being detained at the Okyenhene’s palace in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The three, Frimpong Gabriel 25, Frimpong Patrick 30 and Arhin Jacob 21 were apprehended by some men at the Okyenhene’s palace after one Suzzy Owiredu informed them that the men were raining insults on Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, the chief of Akyem Abuakwa State in a vehicle they were travelling in.
The men from the palace who got infuriated then followed up stopped the vehicle and arrested the 3 men to Okyenhene’s palace for interrogation.
Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Eastern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Ebenezer Tetteh said Police received information that aided in rescuing the men at the palace who are currently in police custody.
” On 15th July 2019 about 19:30 hrs, police received information indicating that some group of people from Okyenhene’s palace had arrested some passengers in a vehicle to the aforementioned place at Kibi and were interrogating them. Police proceeded to the palace and met suspects Gabriel Opppong,25, Frimpong Patrick, 30 and Jacob Arhin, 21 years at the open space being questioned”.
“Information again indicated that the complainant, Suzzy Owiredu of Kibi called the Chief’s palace to inform them that, suspects were insulting Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin in a vehicle that “Nana is stupid and other derogatory remarks made. As a result, some people from the place stopped the vehicle bound for Anyinam from Accra enroute Kibi in the town and arrested suspects to palace for questioning”.
“Police then went in for the suspects and they are currently in our custody pending further investigation”.
