Insults making politics unappealing to women – Brigitte Dzogbenuku

The 2016 running mate for the Progressive People’s Party and Executive Director of Mentoring Women Ghana, Brigitte Dzogbenuku has bemoaned what she described as insult-driven politics in Ghana.

According to her, this has accounted for the low participation of women in Ghana’s politics.

She said women will be more comfortable in politics if such situation is curbed.

“First of all we are women and so we have to use our qualities which include serving people to help our country. We should be bold to compete with the men. Yes, it is tough, but it is not beyond us,” Brigitte Dzogbenuku told Citi News during the commemoration of the International Women’s Day celebration organized by Mentoring Women Ghana.

She added that because women have undermined themselves, their male counterparts see them in that regard.

Asked if there will be a female president for Ghana in the near future, Madam Dzogbenuku said that is not far from possible.

She stated that with the right grooming and mentoring systems, women will find themselves worthy of occupying the highest position, which is the presidency in the country.

The mentoring women Ghana group used the two-day event to educate students of the St Mary’s Secondary School in Accra on best interviewing skills and CV writing.

Some tertiary students were also given mentees made up of staff of Standard Chartered Bank to provide them with life and professional guidance.
