The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Rev. Fr. Prof. Anthony Afful Broni, has been decorated as the “Afianaman Nwomasua mu Okunini Piesie” of Afianaman communities in the Central Region.
The title means ‘pioneer Professor of education in the communities’.
At a ceremony to honour him, the Chairman for the occasion, Prof. Dominic Fobih, urged the Vice Chancellor to continue with his good works.
“You must not give up in your quest to provide Afianaman communities with education”, Prof. Dominic Fobih charged the UEW Vice-Chancellor.
He added that education was the only way to fight poverty in the communities, hence the need for people in community to obtain some form of education.
The VC pledged his support for education and community development in Affianaman and beyond.
“I will continue to support and maintain the community library and kindergarten classroom which I built some twenty years ago” the VC added.
According to him, communities in Asempanaye can now boast of graduates in every home due to the strong foundation these communities got from the beginning.
“I would also liaise with the Regional Police Command to make sure security is maintained in Asempanaye communities” he promised.
Among some of the people in attendance were the chiefs and people of Assin Atandansu, Assin Apimanim, Adansi Ayaasi, acting Principal of the College of Technology Education Prof. Fredrick Sarfo, Director of IDel, Prof. Francis Owusu Mensah, Prof. Dominic Mensah of ITECPD and other high profile individuals.
