The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has released the provisional results of 133,986 private candidates who took part in this year’s West African Senior High School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).
A total of 2,160 results of candidates have been withheld.
WAEC would release the results after an investigation into cases of malpractices.
WAEC has asked the public to be wary of fraudsters who lure the public into believing they can change their results for a payment via mobile money transfer.
The council also entreats the public to confirm and verify results presented to them directly from the Council or access the confirmation and verification of results online on the WAEC website.
In July, the Ghana Education Service and the West African Examination Council (WAEC), were summoned to appear before Parliament’s Education Committee over the abysmal performance of students in the 2018 WASSCE.
The West African Examination Council(WAEC) released provisional results of candidates who took part in the 2018 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Of the 316,999 candidates that sat for the exam, the full results of 26,434 candidates were withheld pending investigations into various cases of examination malpractice.
The Chairman of the Education Committee, Siaka Stevens who spoke to Citi News, said the committee would seek answers aimed at improving WASSCE results.
“We want to meet WAEC and GES to explain to us the abysmal performances of students, why results have been withheld. We need statistics to be able to understand the current situation of students and understand their challenges,” he said.
