A few days after he was found begging on the streets of Accra, the story ‘Beast of No Nation’ actor Emmanuel Adom Quaye aka Strika, has taken a new dimension.
The authorities of his school have also broken silence on his general behaviour.
According to Kumi Bruce, the Chief Executive Officer of the Cape Coast Montessori School where Strika has been enrolled, the young actor is engaged in smoking marijuana, an illegal herb popularly known in Ghanaian parlance as ‘wee.’
He told Asaasewura Kwabena Santana on Elimina-based Benya FM that Strika who is Class Five a pupil of the school has ran out of the school on several occasions, with the recent being the fourth time.
Although he noted that Strika is calm, he said his wee-smoking attitude makes it difficult for the school authorities to control him.“He keeps running away from school. He ran from school ahead of last term’s examination. The last time we found him was at ‘wee’ smokers ghetto, and he even asked us to give him ‘wee’ in one instance,” he told Asaasewura on ‘Celebrities Parliament.’
Bruce also revealed that Strika and his two other colleagues (Justice and Abraham Attah) were brought to his school in Cape Coast but later Abraham Attah found favor with one of the producers who moved him from the school to the USA to school there.
The other boy (Justice) who also starred in the ‘Best of No Nation’ movie is still in school and is very serious with his books.
In the interview Mr Bruce further noted that Strika is academically poor. “Even though he is given extra tuition, he still has difficulty with his studies,” he said.
Asked if the school will be willing to take him back, the CEO replied that because he broke a bond of not running away from school again, the board of the school would have to meet to take a decision on his comeback.
A few days ago reports by Caleb Boye, a student of Ghana Institute of Journalism indicated that the actor was begging on the streets.
Strika in an interview with Caleb had also stated that his caretakers had denied him access to the money he made from his role in the Beast of No Nation movie.
Later, Mawuko Kuadzi, the manager of Strika, Abraham Attah and Justice released a statement, explaining that Strika’s money was in a Trust Fund at Barclays Bank, adding that it he was noted from running away from school.
