Wesley Girl’s High School fell at the quarter-final stage of the 2017 National Science & Maths Quiz after losing to Kumasi High School.
Wesley Girl’s High School’s 31 points trailed Kumasi High School, who recorded 43 points, and T. I. AMASS, Fomena’s 39 points in Saturday’s first contest.
Going into the fourth round, Wesley Girls’ High School led the contest with 31 points, with the eventual victors trailing the tie with 26 points.
But the fourth round, with its True/False questions, where a correct answer is worth 2 points whereas a wrong answer attracts a penalty point, saw the Wesley Girls’ High School contestants come unstuck, as Kumasi High School took control of the tie.
By the end of the fourth round, Kumasi High School stood at 36 points with T.I. AMASS, Fomena at 35 points and
Wesley Girls’ High School dropping to 26 points as a result of the multiple penalties incurred.
