5,000 mothers across Hospitals, Churches, Teachers and Care-givers, Muslim communities and some selected Policewomen have been rewarded by Uniliver as part of the Key Soap Obaatanpa campaign on Mother’s Day.
The move is to recognise the efforts of mothers in caring for the home and ensuring clean clothes with the use of Key Soap, one of the Uniliver products.
According to the company, mothers during the COVID era have been instrumental in ensuring the safety of families, doubling as teachers and care-givers while being enterprising, and need the uttermost recognition.
Speaking at a short event to distribute some of the rewards to mothers at the selected hospital in Accra, the Brands Manager-Key and Sunlight, Ewuraba Ekua Adusei said: “Being a mom is a lifelong journey of ensuring the family is well cared for, groomed and educated.
“Mothers’ Day is a day set aside to honour mothers and show them how much they are valued within the family. It is also a day to celebrate motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society.
“Mothers’ Day is therefore a day set aside to appreciate mothers and all mother-figures. In Ghana, Mothers’ Day falls on the second Sunday of May – which is the 9th of May this year.
“The Key brand, with its iconic popular bar Key soap, has become the dependable partner of most Ghanaian mothers who are concerned about how their family express themselves through their clothes.
“The Ghanaian mother ensures her family steps out in confidence, and Key has provided that affordable soap bar suitable for the whole family’s laundry. As the traditional mother (Obaatanpa) of all bar soaps, mothers’ day is therefore one of the relevant moments for the Key brand.”

“So, today being Mothers’ Day, we are rewarding 5,000 instrumental mothers across our Hospitals, Churches, Muslim communities, not forgetting our Teachers & Care-givers, and some selected Policewomen.
