Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has rallied his troops, assuring Ghanaians that the Black Stars will leave no stone unturned in their bid to outmuscle Madagascar on Monday and cling to their top spot.
Ghana’s 5-0 demolition of Chad on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium catapulted them to the summit of Group I, reigniting their World Cup qualifying aspirations.
However, the Black Stars face a daunting task on Monday as they lock horns with second-placed Madagascar.
In a post-match interview following Ghana’s triumph, the 49-year-old tactician assured Ghanaians that his team would be firing on all cylinders to outgun Madagascar and retain their pole position.
“It always easier when you’re on top. We want to stay there. We will try to do everything to beat Madagascar on Monday to keep the top spot” he declared.
The four-time African Cup of Nations champions are itching to grab all three points on Monday and bolster their chances of making a fifth World Cup appearance, having suffered a dismal AFCON 24 qualifying campaign that saw them miss out on the continent’s most prestigious football competition for the first time in 20 years.
Ghana will travel to Morocco on Monday to face a rejuvenated Madagascar side in the final round of March internationals.
