The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Jean Mensa has strongly averred the Commission’s commitment to ensure a credible, free and fair elections in the upcoming December polls.
Addressing MP’s on the floor of Parliament on Friday, July 19, Jean Mensa said “we accepted this job knowing that posterity will judge us and the almighty God will judge us so there’s no way that we are going to change the results when it is not the truth.”
“We have integrity and credibility and we know that what we do will follow us all the way to the grave and we believe that we want the almighty God to honour us,” she added.

The EC chairperson also called on political parties to thoroughly train and educate party agents about the electoral processes.
“We would like to call on you to do a thorough education of your agents to ensure that they scrutinize and ensure integrity all across the chain…there’s nothing more than we can declare than what comes to us,” she added.
Madam Jean Mensa noted that any staff of the commission who will misbehave during the elections this year will be sanctioned.
She further assured that the Commission would not take any questionable conduct lightly at all.
“I can assure you if any of our staff misbehaves we would not take it lightly. We will sanction our staff and do what we have to do within the remits of the law,” Madam Jean Mensa said on Friday, July 19 when she briefed the lawmakers on the conduct of the 2024 general elections.
