Marcus Rashford and Reece James miss out as England squad for Euro 2024 named

Gareth Southgate has named his provisional 33-man England squad for Euro 2024, with notable absentees including Marcus Rashford and Reece James.

Marcus Rashford has struggled for form this season, scoring just seven goals and providing two assists in 33 league appearances. Despite featuring in seven England games this season, the 26-year-old Manchester United forward was left out of the squad against Belgium in March and now finds himself omitted from the provisional Euro 2024 training squad.

Reece James has faced an injury-plagued season, undergoing surgery and only recently returning to full fitness. Southgate has decided not to include the Chelsea defender, citing insufficient readiness for the tournament.

Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson also misses out on selection.

Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United) and Jarell Quansah (Liverpool), both of Ghanaian descent, have been named in the squad, highlighting Southgate’s focus on integrating young talent.
