Former Ghana international Yaw Acheampong has cautioned the Black Stars against underestimating Angola ahead of their upcoming games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Both teams are currently tied on four points after two games and are vying for wins in the two matches to secure their place in the tournament, which will be held in Ivory Coast.
Despite being favourites and having new coach Chris Hughton at the helm, the Black Stars cannot afford to take Angola lightly, according to Acheampong.
“Nowadays, every country is improving in football, so we shouldn’t underestimate any team. Back in our day, we were always considered favourites against any team we faced. We need to be careful, prepare well, and motivate the players to emerge victorious,” Acheampong told Citi FM.
The games are set to take place on March 23 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, followed by a second leg four days later in Luanda.
