Ghanaian-Nigerian stand-up comedian, singer, and actress Jacinta Asi Ocansey, known in the industry space as Heiress Jacinta says the economic hardship has affected the sponsorship towards comedy shows.
Heiress Jacinta expressed her views on how the current state of the economy is affecting the comedy industry in Ghana on TV3’s 3Xtra.
The comedian explained that the state of the current Ghanaian economy has affected corporate bodies which in turn makes it difficult for comedians to gain sponsorships from organizations.
She said: “Largely, because, corporate Ghana is highly affected, and when corporate Ghana is affected, it affects sponsorships, it affects the fact that comedians cannot walk into corporate organizations and seek sponsorships and just get it like that. Even before this economy, it was not even good, how much more now?”
Jacinta will be headlining her maiden stand-up comedy show on the 8 th of October 2022, at the National Theater, titled “One Night Stand with Jacinta”.
The show will be a night of comedy mixed with music, with several Ghanaian comedians and musicians slated to perform on the night.
