Despite finishing fourth in his heat on Tuesday, Sean Safo-Antwi qualified for the men’s 100m semi-finals.
The Ghanaian struggled in heat 10, but his time of 10.33 seconds earned him a spot in Wednesday’s semi-finals.
He joins fellow countryman Benjamin Azamati, who advanced to the semi-finals on Tuesday morning.
Safo-Antwi, 31, admitted he needed to work on his start before Wednesday’s race.
He was part of the 4x100m relay team that finished fifth at the World Athletics Championships in the United States last month, setting a new national record in the process.
Safo-Antwi helped Ghana win gold in the 4x100m relay at the 2019 African Games in Rabat, Morocco.
