After thirteen weeks of education and entertainment from 16 contestants from various regions in Ghana, six finalists have been able to make it to the final stage of the pageant.
Winner for 2020 Ghana’s Most Beautiful, Naa Dedei Botchwey, has advised all six finalists to positively impact lives even when they don’t win the crown.
Recounting her experience, she stated that despite her expectations to be queen, she respected her fellow competitors capabilities.
“I knew I had what it took to win GMB, but I respected the other ladies and what they were made of. I was working hard for it, but it was not an assurance that I will win.”
She encouraged finalists to knock themselves out for the grand finale.
“I took this like work. I gave it everything that I have got. Give it everything that you have got. Crown or no crown. You can still go out there and make an impact.”
Speaking about the Naa Deidei Botchwey (NDB) foundation, she said it concentrates solely on education through scholarships, community library building and mentorship.
Naa Deidei disclosed that before participating in the pageant, she had wanted to work on inclusive education. And hence her reason to contest in the GMB competition. Adding that, it was the most suitable platform to step up her initiative.
“My project was inclusive education, and I have been thinking about this for a very long time. I thought GMB would give me a good platform to work it out, and so that is why I came.”
Naa revealed that the foundation collaborated with the Ghana Library Authority is preparing to put up a library in the Eastern Region of Ghana to enhance literacy.
She disclosed that discussions with community leaders and architects were fruitful. And plans are well advanced with the assessment of lands, designs and estimates of the cost of the library.
“Right after the contest, I started reaching out to potential sponsors and partners. I think I was lucky because people jumped on to support my project easily than expected.
“I am not tired of carrying the crown. I am glad that I have been able to do all the things I had wanted to do,” she concluded.
