If you are ever bitten by a Brazillian wandering spider, you should seek medical attention immediately. Or suffer a long painful erection that can last up to four hours.
However, a bite is usually rare, and envenomations are mostly mild because it would be folly on its part to continually expand all of its defensive mechanism on one singular threat. Just enough venom to immobilize the threat is enough.
Humans may have severe burning pain at the site of the bite, followed by profuse sweating and goosebumps. The severity escalates within 30minutes with nausea, abdominal cramping, blurred vision, convulsions, vertigo, high or low blood pressure and shock. So why the erection? The venom boosts nitric oxide, a chemical that increases blood flow.
Brazilian wandering spiders is one of the most poisonous spiders on Earth. They are also called armed spiders or banana spiders which means “murderess” in Greek. And Its bite can be deadly to humans, especially children, although antivenin makes death unlikely.
These spiders are known as wandering spiders because they do not build webs but wander on the forest floor at night, actively hunting insects, mice, small amphibians, and reptiles. Brazilian wandering spiders are large, with bodies reaching up to 2 inches (5 centimetres) and leg spans reaching about 6 inches (15 cm. The species are usually brown and may have a black spot on their bellies.
