After seven weeks of fierce, nerve-wracking, captivating and adrenaline rush, the maiden edition of Connect FM’s quiz competition Western Best Brain (CWBB) has entered the final stage with three schools competing for the giant trophy and the bragging rights as the school with “the Best Brains” in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
The quiz competition started on April 21, 2021 with 27 schools within the Effia Kwesimintsim and Sekondi-Takoradi metropolises.
The schools were JayChris Education Centre, Bethany Methodist Basic, Gethsemane M/A JHS, Nana Katabra ‘A’ JHS, St. Mark’s Anglican JHS, All Saints Anglican JHS, Rev. Cobbah Yalley JHS, Good Shepherd Anglican JHS, Diabene JHS, Bishop Essuah Catholic J.H.S, Annchelle International School, Woodridge International School, Bethel Methodist JHS, Anaji M.A JHS and Mampong M.A Basic JHS.
The rest were Wesley Methodist JHS, The Nest School Complex, Good Shepherd Methodist JHS, Mampong M.A Basic, Charity Amoa Memorial, West Ridge M/A, St. Anthony of Padua, Barbara International School, Ponty International School, Rev. Grant Methodist, Services Basic School, HolyChild Practice Basic School and Ebphil International School.
The competitors answered questions on five subjects – Integrated science, Mathematics, English Language, Social studies and General Knowledge – in a round called the “Power Round”.
In that “Power Round”, students are required to answer ten questions in one minute.
After five weeks, nine schools proceeded to the semi-final stage of the competition after which three schools, namely St. Anthony of Padua, Woodbridge International School and Bethel Methodist JHS, proceeded to the final stage slated for Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS).
