Stakeholders in the education sector have lauded Connect FM for introducing another novelty – Connect Western Best Brains.
This follows its colourful launch at the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) in Takoradi in the Western Region.
Connect Western Best Brain is a quiz competition among selected junior high schools (JHSs) in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis.
In all, 27 schools will be competing for the ultimate, starting from Wednesday, April 14 and ending Wednesday, June 2, 2021.
The launch was attended by students and teachers from the selected schools as well as some educationists.
The Metro Zonal Chairman for the association of private schools, Charles Mintaba, lauded Connect FM for championing such an initiative, which will produce critical thinkers.
He was happy that the station has decided to initiate a program to help solve some of the challenges facing the education sector.
Basic School Coordinator for Sekondi Takoradi Metro Education Tilly Ferguson Laing pledged the total support of her outfit.
Station Manager for Connect FM Ransford Nana Osei Asare said the station as part of its vision is to touch on every sector especially social issues and education.
He was grateful to the stakeholders and sponsors for buying into the vision of the station.
The competition was then launched by the Girl Child Coordinator for Western Region, Josephine Roman, after the participating schools balloted for positions.
The Connect Best Western Brains is sponsored by Cowbell and partnered by the Ghana Education Service (GES), Takoradi Technical University and Run on Time.
