Managing Director of Ghana Post James Kwofie has been awarded the Innovative Managing Director of the Decade in a virtual edition of the Lifetime in a Portrait award held on Sunday, April 4 at the GBC studios in Accra.
The ‘Lifetime in a Portrait Award’ is an initiative of Initiators of Change Foundation (ICF) to discover and celebrate distinguished individuals from various backgrounds with the prime goal of engendering social cohesion, unity, patriotism, role modelling, and national development.
This year’s edition coincided with the Foundation’s 10th anniversary, hence Lifetime In a Portrait Award of the Decade.
Mr Kwofie was among several public servants honoured for their contributions to Ghana.
Ghana Post has seen massive innovation and transformation under the leadership of James Kwofie within the period.
His achievements as Managing Director of Ghana Post have been in innovations such as the introduction of a reliable Tracking System, the Central Valuation Centre, and the Digital Address (Ghana Post GPS).
These innovations placed Ghana Post in a more advanced tech-driven position to meet modern ways of doing business and meeting the needs of customers as well as doubling the Company’s revenue.
Ghana Post, under his administration, has leveraged technology to improve efficiency.
The company now has a reliable delivery system aided by the Digital Address system, Short code for Letter Box Payment, App for online payment, giving the e-commerce a boost.
The online tracking system enables both senders and recipients to track items. This helps to monitor items in transit till delivery.
Ghana Post is currently the leading Postal Administration (EMS) in Africa and 7th in the world, according to the Universal Postal Union (UPU) 2020 report.
The Universal Postal Union adjudged Ghana Post in 2017 as The Best Customer Care Operator and 2018 as Best EMS Customer service out of over 180 countries.
Mr. Kwofie’s expertise as a Management and Human Resource Consultant has been exploited by many Multinational Companies and SMEs in Ghana and abroad.
For this and other achievements, the Initiators of Change Foundation found him as an Innovative Managing Director of the Decade.
The Lifetime in the Portrait Awards is under the Patronage of His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor and the Board of Trustees namely Most Rev. Dr. Aboagye-Mensah, Kwame Ampofo Twumasi, Prof. Miranda Greenstreet, Ambassador Alex Ntim Abankwa, Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee, Dr Isaac Owusu Mensah, and Rev. Dr. Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh.
Other award winners at the event included H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as African Digital Revolutionary Leader of the Decade, the late Dr. Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur as African Servant Leader of the Decade, Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare as Outstanding Chief of Staff of the Decade, Ambassador Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas as Africa’s Eminent International Diplomat of the Decade, AMB. James Victor Gbeho as Outstanding Ghanaian Diplomat of the Decade, John Peter Amewu as Patriotic Leader of the Decade, Evangelist Enoch Teye Mensah as Eminent Politician of the Decade, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu as Iconic Parliamentarian of the Decade, Ms. Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah as Promising CEO of the Decade and Maxwell Kofi Jumah as Development Oriented Managing Director of the Decade.
