FIFA has decided in the case between Ben Acheampong and Zamalek that the club makes payment to the player all monies owed.
Acheampong reported Zamalek to the Court of Arbitration for Sport that he had been deprived of $1 million of payments dating back to 2018. CAS ruled that Zamalek make the needed payment to the forward but the Ghanaian had not yet received any settlement as of the start of 2021.
The matter was taken up by FIFA who on February 25, ruled that the North African giants pay the player within one month.
Zamalek will now pay an ‘outstanding remuneration’ of $169,303 with 5% interest per annum. The club will also compensate Acheampong for breach of contract in the amount of $787,308 with 5% interest per annum with fees dating back to August 2018.
The statement by FIFA also pronounces Ben Acheampong as being treated unfairly by the Egyptian club after his stint in the North African country. FIFA then demands CHF30,000 from Zamalek as a fine for their misconduct.
It is not the first time Zamalek has been involved in a row with a player over unpaid salaries and compensation. Deceased Ghanaian forward Junior Agogo also demanded a $450,000 settlement from the Egyptian club.
