Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach, Johnson Smith has urged match officials to protect Brazilian import Fabio Gama.
Fabio Gama since joining the Porcupine Warriors last summer as a free agent has played four games for them including their last three.
Johnson Smith after the last league game against Ebusua Dwarfs has called on referees to protect the play maker due to the physical nature of the Ghana Premier League and how hard he thinks opponents have been on the Brazilian.
“Opponents have been fouling Fabio Gama.
“He has suffered too many times and I will plead with referees to protect him.”
Johnson Smith added that Fabio Gama’s physical appearance is a deficiency for him because he is not used to the Ghanaian football style.
“He is yet to get used to the Ghanaian style of football. He’s not strong enough,” he said in an interview with Oyerepa FM.
Kotoko will play Aduana Stars next at home and Gama is expected to feature.
