A Biomedical Laboratory Scientist, Prosper Senyo Sokpe, who worked at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in Legon, and contracted Coronavirus has disclosed how he narrowly survived the virus.
Speaking on TV3 New Day with Berla Mundi, Mr. Sokpe said he was part of frontline health workers who tested for Covid-19 at the Noguchi testing centre.
He said he contracted the virus in his line of duty but did not get the benefit of any courtesies extended to him as a frontliner.
Mr. Sokpe said it started off with fever: high temperature and bodily pains, frequent stools and later general weakness with pains under his feet.
He said he was treated and discharged after 14 days but that the symptoms still persisted.
According to him, it got critical again and he placed a call to get an ambulance take him to hospital but he was turned down with the excuse that the ambulances are no longer used to carry Covid-19 patients. He said he also learnt that the Covid-19 treatment centre at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) had been closed down when he called.
He also disclosed how some hospitals turned him away despite the fact that he is a frontliner.
Mr. Sokpe narrated the chilling details of how he felt throughout his journey to recovery.
