Restrictions on football eased; fans now allowed to stadium
The Government of Ghana has eased restrictions on football and fans are now allowed to various league centers.
All league centers will be allowed 25 percent of the seating capacity, which means attendance will differ based on the size of the venue.
Since the resumption of football in Ghana, all games have been played behind closed doors due to the spike in the country’s Covid-19 cases.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has, however, decided to lift the restrictions due the country’s progress in fighting the deadly virus.
“Ghana has made significant progress in combatting the disease of late.
“Government has therefore eased the restriction of playing behind closed doors. Seating at all stadia will therefore be limited to Twenty-Five (25%) capacity as previously announced announced by the President. All existing safety and hygiene protocols are still in force.
“The Inter-Ministerial Taskforce will continue to monitor the evolving Covid-19 situation and will advise when more spectators will be allowed to all stadia in the country,” part of the statement reads.
The Ghana Premier League enters Week 8 this weekend and the first division follows the following weekend.
