Minority MPs to face court today over march to EC head office
Some opposition lawmakers are expected to appear in court today Monday January 4 for marching to the head office of the Electoral Commission (EC) without notifying the Police.
This comes after the State sued the Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and 10 of his colleagues for allegedly refusing to notify the police before the march.
The suit accused them of marching without notifying the Police, describing it as an unlawful Assembly.
In a summons issued by the circuit court, the accused persons have been directed to appear before the court today, Monday.
The MPs are Haruna Iddrisu, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, Samuel George, John Abdulai Jinapor, Rockson Defiamekpor, Ras Mubarak, Mutawakilu Adam, Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, A.B. Fuseini, Kwabena Minta Akando, Yusif Issaka Jaja, Isaac Adongo, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, James Klutse Avedzi, James Agalga, Collins Dauda, Abdul Rashi Pelpuo, Richard Quashigah, and Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings.
They were protesting the results of the 2020 general elections which in their view, were manipulated in favour of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
