One of the most patronized community football parks in the Greater Accra Region, the Bukom Park, has been given a facelift.
The pitch, which has hosted many inter-community football games over the years, has served as a breeding ground for talents.
Despite being a conveyor of talents, it barely received any major renovation works over the years with players often playing on its hard and rocky surface.
But in an intervention under the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) of the Ministry of Special Development Initiative, the park has been given a professional look with the installation of an Astro Turf and fencing.
The new structure is as a result of months of discussion between the community and project handlers, dating back to February 25, 2020, when a stakeholder engagement was held to engage the people and community leaders on the development plan of the park.
The meeting was called at the instance of the Coastal Development Authority led by CEO Jerry Ahmed Shiab.
Authorities say the Bukom Park facelift is one of two planned for the community and its environs.
