The latest number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Ghana is 7,616, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has stated.
This follows a total of 208,328 tests conducted over the entire period since the disease was first recorded in Ghana on Thursday, March 12.
Out of the total confirmed cases, 2,421 have recovered with 34 losing their lives.
As a result, the country has 5,161 active cases being treated at various centres with the Ga East Municipal Hospital the biggest treatment facility.
So far, the disease has travelled to all but one of the regions of the country.
The latest region to confirm a case is the Bono East Region.
This involves a 31-year-old commercial driver from Yeji but he plies his trade between that town and Kumasi.
“He has homes in Kumasi and Yeji but spends more time in Kumasi,” GHS said on Friday, May 29.
“He lives in a household of eight people in Yeji but his wife and children live in Kumasi.”
Ghana’s test positivity rate is pegged at 3.66 per cent.
Out of the latest cases, one is in a critical condition with 17 patients’ descried as “severe”.
