Ghana has recorded 112 additional cases of Covid-19 since the last update by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday.
The new cases take the total tally of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country to 1,154.
This was announced on Wednesday, April 22 by the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, at a media briefing in Accra.
He also announced that 120 patients have fully recovered from the virus.
These are cases recorded from the backlog of tests done on samples.
Ghana recorded its first two cases of the viral disease on Thursday, March 12 and since then there has been a surge in the record.
A partial lockdown imposed by President Akufo-Addo between Monday, March 30 and Monday, April 20 afforded health workers the opportunity to trace contacts of the first few patients and test them.
Returning Ghanaians from abroad were also put under mandatory quarantine after the borders of the country were closed.
Those who tested positive were subjected to treatment at various hospitals.
Eighty-two at the Ga East Municipal Hospital, the country’s biggest coronavirus treatment centre, are part of the recovered patients announced by Dr Kuma-Aboagye.
Seventeen of the 120 were at the University if Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) and three were at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.
So far, a total of 1,021 are said to be responding well to treatment with only one in critical condition, on a ventilator.
Nine have died from the disease since its outbreak in the country.
