A late night fire outbreak Monday at the Zylofon Media Complex at East Legon in Accra, has destroyed all equipment of Zylofon TV.
“All our television equipment are destroyed,” Communications Director of Menzgold, Nii Armarh Amarteifio told 3news.com Tuesday, forcing the station to go off air.
The fire was said to have started few minutes after 9:00 p.m. in one of two buildings housing Zylofon TV at a time most of the workers had closed for the day.
No casualty was recorded.
The prompt response of the Ghana National Fire Service ensured the fire did not spread to the adjoining buildings at the 40 Lagos Avenue, East Legon.
“The Fire Service got in here, I understand, just under 10 minutes after the fire started,” TV3’s Alfred Ocansey reported from the scene Monday night.
A statement issued Tuesday by Zylofon Media commended the swiftness of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police for their “invaluable service they rendered”.
“While one part of the complex was damaged by the fire, the swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service, some of our staff, friends and well-wishers, who all responded to the incident in diverse ways, contributed to the swift containment and extinguishing of the fire,” it said.
The statement said they were working with the relevant authorities “to ascertain the cause of the fire outbreak”.
It said “relevant experts are also working to ensure the structural integrity of the affected building”.
“We are also working assiduously to resume our full operations as soon as possible,” it stated.
