Former Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) Paul Ansah Asare has won the NPP parliamentary primary in the Asuogyaman Constituency.
He polled 539 votes, beating his contender Kwame Adu Danquah, who polled 131 votes.
Mr. Ansah Asare is seeking to reclaim the seat from current NDC MP, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, in the 2020 elections.
No political party has retained a seat in the area since the 2000 elections.
The former GPHA boss hopes to keep the trend by beating the incumbent NDC MP for the seat in next year’s polls.
The NPP parliamentary primaries was held in some 100 orphan constituencies in the country.
