Kuapa Kokoo Cooperative Farmers and Marketing Union, Ghana’s foremost producer of ethical cocoa beans, has honoured Media General (TV3) for its dexterity in reporting the rural economy.
The media giant was acknowledged for consistently highlighting issues of concern to rural communities, especially farmers, for possible redress – from production value chain to poor roads, health care delivery and access to water.
The cocoa company honoured TV3 with a citation at the maiden edition of the GJA Ashanti Media Awards in Kumasi.
Presenting the citation, Administrative Manager of Kuapa Kokoo, Bernard Yaw Missedja said the company appreciates TV3’s excellence in covering the cocoa and the rural economy.
“We feel that TV3 is not just the First in News and Best in Entertainment but also an organisation that seeks to propagate and ensure the quest for rural development, and highlights the plight of smallholder farmers especially cocoa farmers,” he noted.
The citation reads:
“Agriculture, as a livelihood activity, contributes to development, hence the need for sustainability for economic, social and environmental good.
TV3 Network is acknowledged for its dexterity in reporting the rural economy – from production value chain to poor roads, health care delivery and access to water.
The team of professionals at TV3 travels to the remotest of communities to highlight issues of concern to rural communities, especially farmers, for possible redress.

TV3’s reports in the cocoa sector are in line with the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Two of Zero Hunger.
The sustained reports on the cocoa sector are highly commendable: you give farmers a voice, highlight prospects and challenges of producing cocoa and draw attention for policy decision-making and implementation.

Media General’s Northern Sector Bureau Chief, Kofi Adu Domfeh, expressed gratitude for the recognition by Kuapa Kokoo.
