Former HIV/AIDS Ambassador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah, says but for Zylofon Media, she would have taken her life and that of her children a month ago, indicating her suicide threat was not a publicity stunt.
According to her, Zylofon Media came to her rescue and made her rescind her decision to commit suicide.
Ms. Mensah in an interview with Graphic Online claimed she has been depressed for quite some time now and was considering suicide as the best solution.

“I actually meant to go to the village, kill the children and myself as well…. I would never do that for attention. That was how I felt that day when I woke up; I woke up and just wanted to end it all,” she said in the interview.
She said while she has been on medication for the mood disorder, her recent post on Facebook attempting to kill herself and her children was not for publicity stunt, and that she would have gone ahead to carry out the act if a staff of Zylofon Media had not reach out to her.
Ms. Mensah who has in recent times grabbed headlines, disclosed that her first suicide attempt was prompted by Comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger in 2016 when she labeled her as a thief and a liar in a live radio interview.
“I think the one who brought out the depression in me was Afia Schwarzenegger. At the time I was pregnant and I was in Germany and I wrote a letter to President Mahama.
“She picked the news, called me, interviewed me and insulted me and called me a liar and a thief… I cried because if you call me a thief; someone who has sacrificed her life for this nation educating people and I was paid just GHC800… Before I realized, was at the hospital. I don’t even know how I ended up there,” she said
According to her, the depression had been there for such a long time that she had no idea it was there until she was diagnosed in Germany.
She expressed regret over the disclosure of her HIV status, and said she was remorseful for endangering the lives of her children and entire family because she thought she was educating people to help them to accept and live with HIV, not knowing the stigma associated with the disease will affect her family.
Ms. Mensah had previously claimed an HIV Positive status, and later denied having the disease.
This led to her being stripped of the ambassadorial role by the Ghana AIDS Commission.
She noted that she is currently embarking on a music career.
