The minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, on Thursday, July 19, delivered the 2018 mid-year budget review before parliament.
Contrary to the speculations of many including the minority in parliament, the budget did not increase the Value Added Tax (VAT).

The budget review however introduced new taxes on luxury vehicles and a sixth band on the graduated personal income tax rate which would tax personal income more than 10,000.
It also touched on how far government has gone with its flagship programmes: one district one factory, free senior high school, restoration of teacher and nursing trainee allowance
