Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars recorded their first win in the group phase of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday with a 2-1 home result against DR Congo’s AS Vita Club.
Goals from Bright Adjei and Yahaya Mohammed early in the game at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park was what the Dormaa-based side needed as they sought their first maximum points.
But AS Vita, who sat on top Group A going into Wednesday’s game, turned the tables to pile pressure on the Ghanaians.
This paid off within minutes as Glody Muzinga halved the deficit in the 26th minute of the game.
With three goals scored in the first 26 minutes, spectators thought it was a game to see plenty of goals.
But the score remained unchanged till the end with the Ghanaian champions even kept on the back foot.
Aduana Stars had lost their first game and drawn their second and were bottom of the group prior to Wednesday’s game.
But the win takes them temporarily on top of Group A.
The two sides will play again in their next encounter, on July 29 at Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa.
ASEC and Raja Casablanca will play later in the day in the other group match.
