Scores of workers of the Takoradi Flour Mill Limited in the Western Region are demonstrating against the company’s management over what is believed to be their poor working conditions.
Entrance to the company’s factory-cum-depot has since Thursday morning been blocked with trucks belonging to the company.
Sources told Takoradi-based Connect 97.1FM that the workers are demanding for pay rise as is done every year.Over 50 articulated trucks that arrived at the company to transport products to the various parts of the country have currently been left stranded at the entrance. The workers have remained tight-lipped about the situation, ostensibly for fear of
victimisation and subsequent dismissal. Some of the workers are wearing red arm bands and have gathered in groups at the depot.
Bells could be heard far from inside the depot where the workers are meeting with the management of the company. The demonstration, sources say, is ongoing across all depots of the company in the country.
