Ms. Faustina Copson is the 2017 National Best Teacher
A 41-year-old primary one teacher of the Richard Akwei Basic School in the Greater Accra Region, Faustina Copson, has emerged the best teacher for 2017
She received a three-bedroom house, GHC50,000 life insurance package and GHC180,000 as her prize at the 23rd National Best Teachers Award held in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
Agnes Nutakor of Kpeve Model School in the Volta Region who came second also receives GHC110,000 and a GHC30,000-life cover insurance.
The third price went to Joseph Abusa of Presec Senior High School, Legon in Accra, who receives a four wheel vehicle plus a GHC20,000 life insurance cover .
In all, 52 teachers and 33 best schools were awarded at the national, which also marked World Teachers Day.
Addressing the teachers, Prof. George Gyan-Baffour, Minister of State responsible for Economic Planning said government’s agenda on education is consistent with the UN goal four of the UN Development Goals, with the view to ensuring inclusive and equitable education to promote lifelong learning for all.
