Asante Kotoko are through to the semi-final of the MTN FA Cup after they narrowly edged NEA Salamina 2-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The match was a test for Kotoko’s readiness to carry on from where they left off prior to the bus accident they suffered last month.
Their struggles were evident on the day with the Division One side causing them problems on the break.
Saddick Adams gave Kotoko an early lead in the 11th minute but pressure piled up on them saw the minnows pull level through Obeng Junior.
A late controversial penalty was given to Kotoko that saw captain of the side, Amos Frimpon, convert to give Kotoko the win at home.
The victory means the Porcupine Warriors have booked a place in the semi finals.
It will be an all Premier League affair with the likes of Medeama SC, Hearts of Oak and Wa All Stars to contend for the final berth.
Kotoko are fourth on the league log and will now switch their focus to the Premier League as they look to catch up with league leaders Aduana Stars.
