Host of TV3’s Newday Johnnie Hughes showed off his saxophone prowess on the show when he performed Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a wonderful World’ on on the morning show to the delight of viewers.
Johnnie Hughes was part of Season I of TV3’s Bands Alive in 2008. He was the lead singer for the eventual 2nd runners-up BIB.

‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong was BIB’s opening act on the launch of the show and that earned him standing ovation from a top brass audience including then Minister for Tourism, Nana Akomea, and some other dignitaries.
Nine years down the lane, he spontaneously repeats the experience with a touch of class, finesse and style on TV3 Newday, having been teased out by saxophonist Junior’s prowess.
The performance was not planned nor rehearsed. It just came up to show that talent can’t be hidden or suppressed.
Could this be the return onto the music scene by Johnnie Hughes after taking a break since 2010?
